Following a series of dynamic global conferences, the GCC team is reflecting on the key themes, insights, and conversations shaping the future of education and employability. Each event reinforced the importance of the three core pillars—community, connection, and curiosity—offering new perspectives and actionable ideas that align with the organization's mission. This post explores the most impactful takeaways and how they continue to fuel GCC’s work at the intersection of employability and international education.

Earlier this year, GCC’s Co-Founders Chris McKenzie and Kate Moore attended the Community Colleges for International Development (CCID) conference in Washington, DC. They presented two posters on connecting international students with employability, and sharing successful practices for online internships.

The Forum on Education Abroad Conference 2025 (Toronto, Canada)

The Forum on Education Abroad Annual Conference is always a highlight of the year, where GCC looks forward to connection, inspiration, and innovation. This year’s conference took place in Toronto, Canada, a city that’s been home to GCC internship programs for almost 15 years.

In addition to exhibiting, Kate Moore joined Matt Byrnes, Co-Founder & President of the International Internship Network, for a session titled ‘Canadian Employers: Preparing Tomorrow’s Workforce Today’, and presented a poster focused on ‘Future Ready Frameworks: Linking Career Competencies with Education Abroad’ (pictured below).

APAIE Conference 2025 (Delhi, India)

Kate Moore and GCC's Director of South Asia and India Programs, Naveen Shah, attended APAIE’s annual conference in Delhi, India this year, where they presented a poster on ‘Internships in the Asia Pacific: Global Citizens for the Future’. Kate also co-facilitated a panel session titled, ‘Internationalising science and technology education towards an academia-industry-government framework’.

The Forum on Education Abroad webinar series: ‘Through an Employer’s Eyes: Why EA Matters’

This virtual discussion was part of the “Employer Perspectives: Preparing Students for the Workforce of Tomorrow, Today” series, in which employers share their insights on globally focused career preparation and workforce development. Kate Moore took part in discussion around how students navigate conversations with prospective employers, what’s important to them when seeking student interns globally, and how EA and global learning experiences can set students up for success in an ever-changing job market. See full article with some key takeaways from the webinar series here.

Webinar announcement titled "Through an Employer's Eyes: Why EA Matters, Part 4" on May 14 with speakers Kelly Derby and Dr. Kate Moore.

Attending annual conferences globally is one of the many ways GCC stays connected with the international education community, and remains curious about how the industry is constantly evolving.
