"Pursuing an internship in the Arts & Cultural Management degree program at MacEwan University has been an incredible journey that has stretched me both professionally and personally. One of the highlights was my internship in Berlin at the historic Babylon Theatre—an iconic venue that has been operating since 1929. Known for its own orchestra accompanying silent films, as well as for showcasing cinema across the last century, the Babylon provided a living classroom unlike any other.

During my time there, I had the opportunity to help develop film festivals for the theatre, gaining hands-on experience in curating cultural programming, building partnerships, and engaging diverse audiences. I also had the privilege of meeting a local filmmaker/producer and a renowned conductor—connections that expanded my professional network and offered invaluable insights into the international arts community. These experiences will be instrumental in shaping my future career as I continue to create meaningful arts experiences and manage projects that bring people together through culture.

On a personal level, this internship proved transformative. At 49 years old, I discovered that I can not only continue to learn but truly thrive in new settings—even in a different culture and language. This experience deepened my confidence, resilience, and adaptability, reminding me that growth and discovery are lifelong pursuits."
