Program Spotlight: East Tennessee State University Hybrid Internship in Mumbai, India 2026

The Global Career Center (GCC) proudly launched its first East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Internship Program in Mumbai, India during Spring 2026. Designed to combine virtual work experience with international immersion, the program gave students the opportunity to build professional skills through a part-time online internship, followed by students traveling to India for an in-person capstone experience.

Beginning in March, students completed a part-time virtual internship alongside their studies before traveling to Mumbai in May for a two-to-three-week program. Centered around Innovation & the Creator Economy, the experience introduced students to India's rapidly growing innovation ecosystem while helping them develop valuable cross-cultural communication and global workplace skills.
Upon arriving in Mumbai, students were welcomed by GCC India & South Asia Director, Naveen Shah, who guided the cohort through the city and shared insights into its culture, history, and business landscape. Alongside their internships, students explored local landmarks and experienced firsthand the energy of one of the world's fastest-growing economies.

The ETSU Mumbai program highlights GCC's commitment to delivering innovative global internship experiences that prepare students for success in today's international workforce. By combining virtual learning with in-country experiential education, the program offered a flexible and impactful model for developing global career readiness.
